Unite launches ‘Real Britain’ in today’s Mirror

Today, Wednesday, Chancellor George Osborne will signal no change from austerity.

He will deliver yet another budget that will squeeze families, spread poverty and hurt communities.

And in April he will be giving hand outs to millionaires while slashing the incomes of millions of ordinary people. Some 20 million people will be hurt by these cuts: your friends, your neighbours, possibly you yourself.

Unite says that there is another way. That is why we have worked with the Daily Mirror to support a major new, weekly column starting in today’s paper to shine a light on what’s really going on in austerity Britain.

Every Wednesday, ‘Real Britain’ will tell the stories the Con-Dems don’t want people to read.  It will show how communities are fighting back against savage cuts, the destruction of our NHS, the collapse in decent employment and living wages.

This new column puts the issues that matter to you and your communities centre stage. It is a bold move from your union but this is in keeping with how we strive to give you the loudest voice possible.

This column will reach millions. It will be a must read. Pick up a copy today and support it in the weeks and months ahead – and don’t forget to tell your friends and colleagues too.

With best wishes

Len McCluskey
General secretary
